If I had it my way, Holland America would just anchor, turnoff the engines and just stay put at this glorious Bahamian island for the week…or two….or three!
I think I’ve been there close to 10 times and I’d say 8 of them we had a calm day with warm sunshine. You simply have to see this beach. It truly is one of the most beautiful anywhere – and I am so lucky to have walked some gorgeous ones.
If you grab a lounge chair close to the sumptuous buffet you’ll be around a lot of people. However, if you stroll down this long crescent beach you will feel like you are almost alone in paradise. The water looks like the pictures. You can live the photo of the horses wading the seas and there’s lots of other great activities. You may want to rent a cabana and just make it a beach day – and that always works well.
Holland America's Popular Caribbean Sailing!
Almost every Caribbean cruise stops here, but there’s more. I really like St Maarten, and while St Thomas is a bit too commercial and busy for my liking, head across the island and enjoy another beach day at Megan’s Bay. My wife, Shelley, still talks about the best chicken wings she ever had there!
The longer itineraries go further south and you go to less travelled ports in Barbados, Martinique, St Lucia, St Kitts, etc. They are still pretty busy during the November to March prime time cruise season, but there are still plenty of places you can go if you’d rather have less people.
The most plentiful and popular 7 night itineraries are either Western Caribbean (Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Bahamas) or Eastern (Puerto Rico, Turks and Caicos, USVI) and Tropical which includes Dominica and Key West. Holland America has 4 ships with a variety of itineraries to choose from and as Canada’s leading agency, you will appreciate our knowledge and value.
